You asked, Troy answered! When you are starting to think about how much money you should raise, you probably start to develop a range in your head. In episode five of MATH 101, Troy digs into the strategy behind which side of that range you should push for to create momentum and excitement around your company. Additionally, he offers advice on how to best communicate to funds on how you will use their capital.

Very useful, thanks, Troy. What is your view on how much a founder has spent up to the point where he or she is soliciting interest to raise the first round? Is it a requirement (skin in the game) from an investor’s point of view and/or is financially counting sweat equity “ok” or frowned upon?
Great perspective both on the "right" way to view the amount you are raising and the outcomes vs uses description of how you are using what you raise.
